Foaling Fee - $250.00 plus GST

Yirribee takes pride in our extremely low mortality rate of new born foals – less than 3%.
Each Mare is fully supervised and assisted during foaling by at least two fully experienced Foaling Down staff.

The Mare is foaled down in her own individual, fully rubber lined, grassed yard under 24 hour supervision.

Post Foaling Fee - $15.00 per day plus GST

After foaling, we recommend the Mare and Foal are stabled for at least 24 hours, giving the Foal every chance to strengthen the tendons and muscles. Some Foals may require longer as to strengthen “Relaxed Tendons” . It also gives the Mare a chance to nurture the newborn foal in a peaceful environment.

Any Vetinary care at Owners expense.

Foal IGG Test - $60.00 plus GST

Yirribee fully recommends all Foals have an IGG Test 24 Hours after foaling. This is a Blood Test to determine adequate levels of colostrums have been absorbed into the Foal’s bloodstream. Colostrum are vital for the Foal’s Immune System.

Post Foaling

After the initial foaling period, if all is well, both Mare and Foal are moved to a smaller paddock for the first week

Following on after that, they are then turned out to our lush clover and rye pastures to join the other Mares and newborn Foals.

Lights Programme
(EXTRA $2.00 PER DAY plus GST)

This is a program Yirribee has had in place for several years now and has proven to be very successful in getting Mares to cycle early in the season, thus producing early foals for next year.

The Mares are placed in a small paddock in the evenings under huge, powerful wattage lights, thus increasing their “daylight” hours. This actually “tricks” the Mare into believing the days are getting longer and they start to “come into season” thinking it is spring time.

98% of Mares taking part in this program have previously been served in the first 2-3 weeks of the season. Ideal for maiden Mares as it gets their breeding career off to a nice early start!
